n Sunday, August 14, 2011, Lorraine Missouri Landers Brown of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, went to sleep and entered into eternal rest. Left to cherish her memory are her loving son Hodford (Hod) Reynald Brown, (daughter in law Wilma Brown) and daughter Janice Lorraine Berry-Chen, granddaughters Katherine Lorraine Berry, Carol Michele' Coates and Tania Monique Brown, grandson Hodford (Hodd) Russell Brown, great grandsons Jason Christopher Berry, Jovan Darrell Chase, Hodford Rand Brown, a great great granddaughter Saniyah Cintheia Berry, and a sister Eunice Catherine Carpenter, a host of nieces, nephews and many, many loving friends. Lorraine was born September 3, 1918 to the late Sedgwick Norris Landers and Parralee Edith Dyson Landers. She married her childhood sweetheart Hodford Rozier Brown fondly known to everyone as "Buster" September 4, 1937. They remained a loving couple for 62 years until "Busters" death November, 1999. Lorraine attended Lovejoy Elementary School, Brown Junior High and graduated from Dunbar High in 1936. She met "Buster" at Calvary Episcopal Church in 1928. They would meet on the corners of 11th and Maryland Avenues and walk hand and hand to Calvary. Lorraine married "Buster" at Calvary in 1937. And, after briefly living in Chapel Oaks, Md. and Brooklyn settled in Islip, Long Island, New York where they bought 16 Ferndale Blvd and lived there for 30 years. Lorraine loved a party and having fun. She loved music, enjoyed traveling and a good game of cards with freinds, sometimes they played poker or blackjack well into the night. There will always be fond memories and a good story about the 4th of July Picnics held on the lawn at 16 Ferndale - Greenwood lake, NY and Ocean City, Md. One would hear the many sounds of Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and the sweet voice of Dinah Washington singing melodies like "Willow Weep for Me" in the background. Lorraine was funny, truthful and sincere. She loved her family very much. She was loved and will be missed by all that knew her with her arms stretched wide for a hug and kiss and willing to catch up on the latest. Please sign the guestbook below.
