ORRAINE ELLEN CYBULSKI (McDONALD) September 1938 – May 2023 Lorraine Cybulski, formerly of Clinton, MD, passed on the morning of May 29, 2023 at Spring Hills Mount Vernon Assisted Senior Living Facility in Alexandria, VA. Lorraine succumbed peacefully to complications from a stroke with her daughter, Diane, at her side. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents John E. McDonald and Johanna Bromley, her sisters Marguerite Carlson and Mary Fritz, and her husband Frank J. Cybulski. Lorraine is survived by daughters Diane Roof and Kathy (Rick) Kumm; son John F. (John Crawley) Cybulski; sister Dorothy Lagerstedt; grandsons James (Carol) Kumm, Jeffrey Kumm and Shawn (Nicole Danielle Baird) Roof; granddaughters Jessica (Kyle) O’Brian and Mindy (Nathan Fletcher) Wade; five great grandchildren; six nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Lorraine was born in Seattle, WA and grew up in Bossburg, WA on the banks of the Columbia River. Lorraine met her future husband, Frank, while he was stationed at Fairchild AFB near Spokane, WA. They married in 1958 at the Coeur d’Alene, ID, Court House, and their first child, Diane, was born later that year. Lorraine traveled widely with Frank for the Air Force with stops in California, Colorado where their second child Kathy was born, Oklahoma where their third child John was born, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and finally Maryland. During their travels, Lorraine was a punch card operator for local telephone companies before becoming a full-time mother after the birth of her second daughter Kathy. Family and friends are welcome at visitations that will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held later on a date and time to be determined at the Old Post Chapel, 204 Lee Avenue, Fort Myer, VA. Lorraine will be laid to rest with Frank at Arlington National Cemetery. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, October 19th, 2023 at 12:45 PM at the Old Post Chapel on Fort Myer, VA. Please arrive to Fort Myer by 12 noon with a government-issued ID for each person over the age of 16. Though expressions of condolence are welcome, Lorraine was fond only of tulips.
