Lorraine A. Haislip - Obituary

orraine Allene Haislip, a resident of Harwood, MD passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Lorraine was born on December 13, 1945, to the late William and Nellie Logan in South Kingstown, RI. Raised as a beach baby, she frequented “Carpenter Beach” in RI and favorite view was of Block Island. Her love of the ocean and sand in her toes was something she passed on to her family. She was a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Nursing and worked as a nurse for Walter Reed Army Hospital and Blake Construction Company. Caring for people was a passion, and after nursing she continued to love unconditionally both family, friends, and her community. Her interests included gardening, crafting and photography of South County farms and nature, especially birds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Linda Winchell. She is survived by her husband Arthur Haislip, III, her children; Arthur Lee Haislip, IV, Kristin Willsey and husband Steve, Brandon L. Wheeler, Megan Haislip-Jarrett and her husband Butch Jarrett, one sister Lisbeth Gardner. She is also survived by her four grandchildren; Layne and Kaylee Willsey, Logan and Jordan Wheeler, and her beloved companion, Chase. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lorraine’s life on Thursday, October 25, 2018, from 4pm until her memorial service begins at 6pm at George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment will be private. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Hospice of the Chesapeake for their care and compassion.
