Louis Howell - Obituary

ouis Howell Jr. (TUTTA BOY) was born September 19, 1952 in Rock Hill, South Carolina to the late Louis Jerome Howell Sr. and the late Maggie Bell Howell. Upon his parents’ death, he was raised by Aunt Juanita Page Howell. He departed this life on January 2, 2018. Louis attended Edgewood Elementary School. He graduated from Emmett Scott High School in 1970. He went on to attend South Carolina State University and graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He moved to Brooklyn, New York where he began his full-time career working on Wall Street in New York City broadening his vast knowledge on World and International Affairs. In addition, his work ethic led him to work at the Zales Corporation. And during this time he met Jeanette. Louis then relocated to the Maryland/DC area, established residency and began his 40 year career at the Dorothy Height branch of the United States Postal Service in Washington DC. Shortly after, he and Jeanette married in 1979. From that union, they had one son, Christopher Louis Howell. In his early years in the Maryland-DC area, Louis played tennis. He enjoyed reading the Washington Post newspaper daily. His desire to work, led him to assist his uncle part-time in his business providing tours, chauffeuring and car service. Eventually, Louis went into business for himself as a part-time taxi cab driver, while still working full-time at the postal service. He loved working on cars and collecting parts. During this time, it was not unusual for him to assist family and friends and provide transportation for them. Tutta Boy’s big hugs, vibrant personality, lively stories and funny antics are some of the things that made people adore him. He has left his mark and his spirit will always be with us. One brother, Kevin Kent (KK) Howell preceded him in death. Louis leaves to cherish his loving memory: wife, Jeanette Howell; son, Christopher Howell; 2 sisters, Delores and Banastine Howell of Brooklyn, NY; 2 brothers, Clarence and Randy Howell of Baltimore, MD; 4 Nieces, Deirdre Johnson of Austell, GA, Tenell and Anisa Howell of Baltimore, MD and Brittany Howell of New Rochelle, NY; 3 Nephews, Matheno and Randy Howell Jr. of Baltimore, MD and Emanuel Howell of Chicago, IL and a host of cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
