Louis Francis Martini passed away peacefully with his wife Eileen by his side on June 25, 2024, at their home in Edgewater, MD. He was just weeks shy of his 80th birthday. Lou was born on July 14, 1944, in the suburbs of Philadelphia (East Lansdowne, PA) to the late Louis and Thelma Martini. He graduated from Villanova University in 1966. After serving in the Army Reserves, Lou became an accomplished entrepreneur in the food industry. With an outside-the-lines approach, he successfully owned and ran Stanley Foods, a distributor in Capitol Heights, MD.  

More important to him than his work accomplishments were family and friends. Lou was a dedicated father to Jennifer Abdinoor (Rich) and Jeff Martini (Becca) and an enthusiastic grandfather to Marissa and Rocco Abdinoor and Ziggy and Jacob Martini. Lou lived a life of generosity and led with love. He often took time to counsel those in need and give financial support. He always looked for ways to lift up those who didn’t feel included, all while keeping a sense of humor. For many years he volunteered his time as a basketball coach. He was a lover of life and lived voraciously, enjoying good music, food, and entertainment. He was quick to forgive and didn’t believe in holding grudges. If you were his friend, you were family, and family, after God, came first. His memory will live on as we follow his edicts of “live your best life” and “attitude is everything.”

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Lou’s life on Sunday, June 30 from 1 pm until his memorial service begins at 2 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins (<a href="https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/kimmel-cancer-center/make-a-gift">online here</a>).
