ouis M. "Lou" Phillips, 64, of St. Margarets and previously of President Point in Annapolis and of Utah, died of heart failure Nov. 3 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a two-week illness.
Born March 9, 1943, in Charleston, S.C., Mr. Phillips received two master's degrees, one in electrical engineering and another in business. An entrepreneur, he was self-employed in the real estate industry, serving as a mortgage consultant, mortgage broker and licensed real estate agent.
From 1963 to 1966 he was in the Army and stationed in Germany.
A member of the Annapolis Yacht Club, he enjoyed sailing. He was famous for his gourmet cooking, homemade cakes and photography. His interests also included golf, painting, contemporary art, skiing, fly fishing, music and history as well as his SPCA-adopted cat.
He was formerly married to Christine Phillips of Annapolis.
Surviving are his life partner and companion, Countess Marina Almeida Rowley, and her five children.
Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 24 at 1809 Mill Ridge Court, Annapolis, where prayers will be offered at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater.
