owell George Salmon Lowell G. Salmon, a resident of Denton and Annapolis, MD, died on Friday, May 22, 2009, at his residence in Denton of natural causes. He was 72. Born November 14, 1936 to the late Ray and Ruth Salmon, he graduated from Penn State and Edinboro State University in PA, and the State University of NY at Buffalo, where he received 3 masters degrees in Education. Lowell was a teacher for 3 years in the Dominican Republic, and 5 years in the Pennsylvania Public School system. He was the Supervisor of Student Teachers for 3 years at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Facilities Program Coordinator in Springfield, IL for 4 years. He also worked as a Higher Education Facilities Coordinator with the Maryland Higher Education Commission for 20 years. Lowell served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961, and was also President and Board of Directors member of the N.E. Region Council of Educational Facilities Planners International, a member of the Fairwinds Condominium Association and a lifetime member of Eastport United Methodist Church. His hobbies included collecting coins, watching game shows, bird watching and traveling. Lowell is survived by his wife, Joan A. Dove, whom he married in November of 2007; his son, Jeffery L. Salmon of Clayton, NC; and his daughters Shonda Kohlhoff of Munich, Germany and Melissa Salmon Heil of Dunnellon, FL. Also survived by his brothers, Dr. Vincent M. Salmon of Kingman, AZ, Dr. James A. and Dr. Verel R. Salmon, both of Erie, PA, and his sister, Elaine Salmon Baxter of River View, MI; and his grandchildren, Samuel Heil and Brianna Kohlhoff. A graveside service will be held at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 10:45am.
