Jack Carson Snead passed away at his home in Fort Washington, Maryland on July 12, 2022, a month and half short of his 93rd birthday.

Jack was born September 2, 1929 in Robert Lee, Texas to parents J.C. and Winnie Snead.  He married the former Glovenia (Glo) Caraway in 1953.

	He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1974.  During 1953-54 he flew as radar navigator/bombardier aboard B-29 bombers operating from Kadena Air Base, Okinawa.  From 1954 to 1958 he was based at Travis Air Force Base, California, performing aircrew duties in B-36 aircraft of the Strategic Air Command.

	In subsequent assignments in Ohio and New Mexico, he worked in the development, test and evaluation of sensors and systems for aircraft navigation and flight control.  During this period, Jack earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering at Oklahoma State University and the Air Force Institute of Technology, respectively.  In his last USAF assignment, he worked as chief of the Avionics Branch in the Electronics Division at Air Force Systems Command Headquarters at Andrews AFB, MD.

	Later, in the employ of aerospace industry organizations, he provided engineering support for military avionics technology programs.  He was also active in the Institute of Navigation, serving as secretary/treasurer and vice chairman of the Washington Section.

	After retirement, he enjoyed being with his grandchildren, swimming, participating in activities of the Old Presbyterian Meeting House (Alexandria, VA), and riding with the Oxon Hill Bicycle & Trail Club (Southern Maryland).  He had also served as a deacon at the Camp Springs Presbyterian Church.  He and his wife, Glo, also enjoyed traveling, particularly to their second home in Texas.

	Survivors include his wife, Glo Snead of Fort Washington, MD; a son, David Snead of Marblehead, MA; a daughter, Angela Smith, and son-in-law Charles Smith of Springfield, VA; grandson Carson Smith of Providence, RI; granddaughter Cara Smith, also of Springfield; a sister Doris McCabe of Robert Lee, TX; and a brother-in-law Jim Caraway of Bryan, TX.

A Funeral will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022 at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory , 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, Maryland 20745 at 2 p.m. Interment Arlington National Cemetery with Full Military Honors on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 1 pm. Please meet at the Administration Building parking lot at 12:15 p.m. with one's own transportation and Identification.
