ichard Norris Wickwar passed away on January 7, 2023, at home loved and surrounded by a family of 4 generations. Born September 13, 1934, to Robert and Fern Wickwar in Burlington, Colorado. He lived in Maryland for almost 50 years. He was a Lt. Colonel, and navigator in the United States Air Force and was last stationed at the Pentagon. He served in the Vietnam war and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and numerous other medals. After 22 years of service, he retired and became a CPA, and ran his office in Fort Washington, Maryland. He was married to and survived by his wife Vergilla (Jill) for 66 years. Together they raised their 5 children Debra (O'Neil), Lisa (Blackwell), Greg, Wickwar, Brett Wickwar, and Nancy (McClain). 10 grandchildren Michael and Christopher O'Neil, Parker and Jason Blackwell, Amanda Krize, Desiree and Alexander Wickwar, Kathryn, David, and Daniel McClain. 3 great-grandchildren Finn and McKenna O'Neil, and Amelia (Mia) Krize. The funeral for Richard will be held at the Old Post Chapel on Ft. Myer, VA followed by the interment with Full Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery at a date and time yet to be determined.
