L

ucille Dixon Catterton, 95, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, peacefully in her sleep. She was born on May 27, 1927 in Bald Eagle, MD to the late Charles C. and Maude E. Dixon. Lucille worked for the Federal Government for 28 years and Prince George’s County for 4 years. She was a longtime member of the Marlton Woman’s Club, serving as President of the club from 1987 to 1988 and was a member of St. Paul’s Moravian Church for 38 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, David Dixon Catterton, Alfred Hall Catterton, Jr., C. Michael Catterton, Sr. and Robert Lee Catterton; her grandson, Johnny C. Brewer and her siblings, Mary Shipp, Ida Armiger, Rose Primm, Peggy Baden, Charles E. and Leon Dixon. Lucille is survived by her daughters, Brenda C. Phipps and Lynne (Steve) Miele; her sisters, Virginia Downing and Joan (Peter) Clarke, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lucille supported the American Heart Association, Chesapeake Bay Fund and the Wounded Warriors. Friends are invited to celebrate Lucille’s life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Friday, August 5 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm and at St. Paul’s Moravian Church, 8505 Heathermore Blvd., Upper Marlboro, MD on Saturday, August 6 from 10 am until her funeral service begins at 11 am. Interment will follow at Brookfield United Methodist Church Cemetery in Upper Marlboro, MD. Online condolences may be offered using the Memories tab on the left side of this page.
