Lucille B. Lundmark - Obituary

ucille B. Lundmark, 92, was born July 21, 1924, in Orange County, CA, the oldest daughter of the late Mac and Lola Buckner. At a young age, the family moved to a farm in Oklahoma where she attended school with her sisters, Ruby and Christine. As a young adult, Lucille moved to Yuma, AZ with Ruby and got a job working at the Post Exchange on an Air Force base where she met her husband, Robert Lundmark. They were wed in 1947 in Washington, DC and moved two years later to a farm in Ardmore in Prince George's County, MD. They had three children and were married for 32 years. Although quiet and reserved, Lucille is fondly remembered as someone who always put family first. She remained close to her sisters in Colorado writing them often and visiting whenever she could. As a young mother, she got a job working nights as a phone operator with the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company. She retired after 25 years of service in 1979. One of her favorite things to do, when she had a day off, was to load up the kids in the green Rambler with a picnic to spend the day at the beach. She enjoyed collecting recipes, reading the newspaper and spending time with her grandchildren. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, Mac and Lola Buckner; and a sister, Ruby Lind. She is survived by her sister, Christine Caywood of Colorado; two daughters, Donna Carrington of Annapolis, MD and Beverly (John) Amoroso of Bowie, MD; a son, Wayne (Judy) Lundmark of Huntingtown, MD; her former husband, Robert O. Lundmark; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends may call on Monday, September 19, 2016, from 11:30 a.m. until Lucille's funeral service begins at 12:00 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
