L

ucy Howland Lucy Grobe Howland, 79, of Annapolis, died of natural causes June 29 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Mrs. Howland was born April 16, 1928, in Sandusky, Ohio, to the late Edgar and Winnefred Collins Behrendsen and graduated in 1947 from Sandusky High School. A homemaker, she worked a number of years at Philco Corp., People Savings and Log Cabin Restaurant, all in Ohio. She lived in Fort Myers, Fla., for 30 years before returning to the Sandusky area in 1996 and moving here about a year ago. She was a member of Huron United Methodist Church and Eastport United Methodist Church, and enjoying attending plays and playing cards. On June 5, 1948, she married Donald K. Grobe who died March 18, 1969. On Oct. 7, 1971, she married Robert L. Howland who died Nov. 7, 1996. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Foltz of Edgewater; a son, Tim Grobe of Fort Myers; a stepson, Robert Howland Jr. of Michigan; a stepdaughter, Rosemary Tommiolino of Florida; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, David Behrendsen of Massillan, Ohio. She was the sister of the late Alfred Behrendsen. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Eastport United Methodist Church. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401, or Eastport United Methodist Church, 926 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403.
