uisa Grigsby, 96, died peacefully on May 23, 2018, surrounded by family and friends at Sunrise of Annapolis where she resided for almost 5 years. Originally from Cuba, Luisa, lovingly known to many as “Abuela”, met and married the love of her life, Larry Grigsby, in 1945 while working at a military base where he was stationed during WWII. They later settled in the DC area for 51 years, with Luisa a full-time homemaker for most of those years. Later, Luisa returned to the workforce, employed for 15 years by the Bakery, Confectionary, & Tobacco Workers International Union.
In 1996, Luisa relocated to live with her daughter in Harwood, MD until 2013. While at Sunrise, she enjoyed bingo, as well as exercise and painting classes. She was predeceased by her husband, Larry (2012), and an infant son, Lawrence, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Florie Grigsby Bozzella of Annapolis; granddaughter, Kristen Bozzella Dixon (Paul) of Davidsonville; grandson, Kevin Bozzella of Depew, NY; and brother, Amos Rojas (Margarita) of Miami, FL. She was great-grandmother to Sarah Dixon and Charles Dixon, who brightened her life and final days. She leaves behind many wonderful friends she loved throughout her lifetime.
