Luzano Pancho Canlas, Sr, 72, a member of Washington Independent Writers, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012, 6:58 p.m. at Washington Hospital center. He was surrounded by his wife, children, nephews and nieces when he delivered his last breath.
He suffered from Pneumonia, Congestive Heart Failure and Kidney Failure.
Luzano, Sr. was born in La Paz, Tarlac, Philippines on July 4, 1940. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, majored in Accounting from University of the East, Manila, Philippines in 1964.
He and his whole family migrated to the U.S.A. in 1988 and settled in Fort Washington, Maryland since then. He worked as a contractual security officer with FEMA for several years until his retirement in 2008. While working as a security officer, he continued his hobby as an independent writer. He compiled numerous researches about health and diseases, including nutrition, dieting, weight reduction, and exercise. He compiled a thousand proverbs, quotations and thoughts from great men. From all those compilations, he published books and became a member of Who’s Who in America in the early 2000s.
He was religiously affiliated to the Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ) and was a very active member and officer in the Temple Hill Congregation in Maryland.
He leaves behind his wife, 69 yo, Rosario Supan Canlas of Tarlac, Philippines; three children; Luzano S. Canlas, Jr., Richard S. Canlas, Jenny C. Bernardo, and eight grandchildren: Samuel, Leanna, Luigi Angelo, Katrina Lyn, Katelyn, Kamille, Cristian, and one due in April, 2013.
Family and friends are invited to Luzano's Life Celebration on Friday, December 21 and Saturday, December, 22 from 2-4 and 6-9pm both days.
