Marcia F. Haxall - Obituary

arcia Ferdinand Haxall, 71, of Annapolis, MD, passed away at home with her family on November 15, 2023, following a long illness. Born in Pottstown, PA, in 1951, Marci was raised in Hudson, OH, and Basking Ridge, NJ. She studied English literature and theater at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania before graduating with a BSN from the University of Maryland. In her nearly thirty-year career in nursing, Marci worked in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and home health care, as well as teaching nursing certification programs. She remained active in her community, from volunteering for local theater troupes to serving as the Parents’ Association of Queen Anne School president. A profoundly devoted wife and mother, Marci maintained a passion for culture and the arts. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, whether at home in Annapolis, “down” the Jersey Shore, or at her summer home in the 1000 Islands region of the St. Lawrence River. Preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Ann Marie Ferdinand, and her brothers-in-law, John D’Luhy and D. Barton Haxall, Marci is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Bolling Haxall, Jr., sons Bodie Haxall (Sara) and Daniel Haxall (Kathryn), daughter Katie Cronin (Ryan), six grandchildren (Bodie, Tommy, Emily, Riley, Henry, and Teddy), brothers Lou Ferdinand (Maura) and Greg Ferdinand (Rita), sisters Lisa Ferdinand, Gina Ferdinand, and Natalie Yozzo (Chris), sisters-in-law Gale D’Luhy and Polly MacLean (John), thirteen nephews and nieces, eleven grandnephews and grandnieces, and so many family and friends. A memorial mass will be held at 9:00 am on December 2 at St. Mary’s Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marcia (Ferdinand) Haxall Memorial Scholarship at Kutztown University.
