Margaret "Peggy" M. Oliver - Obituary

argaret Mary “Peggy” Oliver, 88, a longtime resident of New Bern, NC and previously of Derwood, MD, died September 22, 2023. Born in Springfield, IL on October 13, 1934, she grew up in Nyack, NY, attended St. Vincent (NY) School of Nursing and earned her bachelor’s degree from Columbia University. Her long career in nursing included psychiatric nursing as well as the supervision of school nurses in Montgomery County, MD. Peggy was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in New Bern where she was involved in many ministries such as the Catholic Daughters, Merci Clinic, baptism classes and the Tobit Committee. Her interests included swimming, water aerobics and sewing, where she would utilize her sewing skills on several projects for Carolina East Medical Center. Preceded in death by her husband, Warren Oliver, Peggy is survived by her children, Claire (Tim) Spencer, Warren (Heidi) Oliver and Lorraine (Steve) Stasny; and her grandchildren, Gregory and Kennan Spencer, Emily, Andy, Mary Kate, Mike, John and Zeb Stasny. A funeral service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held on Thursday, November 9 at 10:30 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 11701 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
