Margaret A. Barksdale - Obituary

argaret Ann Barksdale, age 83 and a resident of Lothian for 41 years, died at her home of natural causes on March 16, 2023. She was born in Annapolis on July 28, 1939 to the late Clarence and Mary Moreland and worked for many years as a registered nurse. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and loved spending time at the beach and eating crabs. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, James Manning Barksdale and her sister, Mary Lou Bottner. She is survived by her children, James “Chip” Churn of Annapolis, Sandy Marshall of Hardeeville, SC and Sherry Brewer of Brandon, FL; her grandchildren, JR Churn, David Byers, Sara Churn and Victoria Mackey; and two great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to join in Margaret’s life celebration on Wednesday, March 22 from 4-6 PM at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. The funeral service will be on Thursday, March 23 at 11 AM at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 122 Bayard Road, Lothian, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Margaret’s name may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
