orn in 1938 in Lilbourn, Missouri, Margaret Ann Lancaster Bishop was the daughter of Homer Cleveland (C.H.) Lancaster and Ellen Coretta Schaffer. She grew up with her brother, William Donald Greene, Jr., and graduated from Anacostia High School, Washington, D.C. in 1956. After graduation, she worked for the U.S. Navy as a secretary. She married her husband of 56 years, Stephen (Steve) Barron Bishop, in October 1957. In the early 1970s, Steve was called to duty in Ubon, Thailand, and Margaret and her daughters relocated to Oxon Hill, Maryland where Margaret went to work as a secretary for Fort Foote Baptist Church. She later transferred to work for the U.S. Army and Navy before her retirement from federal service in 1991. Throughout her life, she enjoyed being a member of several clubs, including school Glee Clubs, Job’s Daughters (she was selected as Honored Queen in 1956), and the Non-Commissioned Officers Wives’ Club. She enjoyed reading, playing with her grandchildren, and socializing with dear friends. In her early 50s, she became ill with Multiple Sclerosis and inspired everyone she met with her positive attitude and sweet disposition. She was preceded in death by her father; mother; beloved stepfather, William D. Greene, Sr.; and her husband. She is survived by her brother; two daughters; two son-in-laws, Anthony Gagliardi and John McFadden; and three grandsons, Stephen Gagliardi, and Curtis and Taylor McFadden.
