Margaret Crawford - Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret (Morrison) Crawford, affectionately known as Sweety. A beloved mother, friend and sister in Christ. Margaret, born in Lincolnton, NC on April 13, 1934, reunited with her husband, Charles B Crawford in heaven on the morning of July 25th. The two of them wed on October 26th, 1963 in Washington, DC. Margaret left North Carolina at 18 and relocated to DC where she attended business school. She then dedicated 31 years of service to the National Labor Relations Board, embodying a commitment to justice for employees. Her infectious laugh and way around the kitchen brought joy to all who knew her. A Godly woman, Margaret was actively involved in her church, Fort Foote Baptist Church. For 25 years, she built a community and studied the Word. Margaret shared her faith through action and word, never missing an opportunity to impart her wisdom. When not at church or Bible study, she enjoyed water aerobics, time with family, supporting her favorite team, the Washington Commanders, and Hibachi cuisine. Surrounded by family, Margaret spent her last two years in Florida. She is survived by her sister, Geneva Morrison - Washington, DC; two children: Mitchell (Vickie) Crawford - Land O Lakes FL and Sheila (Karl) Hodges - Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren: Tiffany Crawford, Jasmine (Matt) Kent, Tyler Hodges, Rhiley Hodges, and Karl Hodges Jr. and one great grandchild, Gideon Kent. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Charles B. Crawford; parents Milas and Savannah Morrison; brothers David and Alfred Morrison and two sisters Jennie Morrison and Katherine “Bee” Burton. Margaret’s legacy lives on through her family and the countless lives she touched. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Margaret's life on Tuesday, August 6th from 10-11 AM with a funeral service to begin at 11 AM at Fort Foote Baptist Church, 8310 Fort Foote Rd, Fort Washington, MD 20744. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
