M

argaret Diane Cross, 75, a 30-year resident of Annapolis and previously of Camp Springs, MD, died peacefully at her home on December 10, 2013. Born on November 18, 1938 in Lancaster, NY to the late Floyd and Edna Hamilton, Diane graduated in 1956 from Oxon Hill High School where she was Vice President of the State Student Council and played the saxophone in the school band. Among her achievements, Diane’s classmates voted her class clown, most mischievous and most studious. In the same year she graduated, Diane was selected Queen of Job’s Daughters. Diane was a former executive assistant for the CIA. Diane co-owned and managed with her husband the D. Brooks Cross Chartered Consulting Engineers in Suitland, MD for many years. A socialite within her circle of friends and family, Diane loved to organize events, holidays and adventures including class reunions, birthday parties, 4th of July and Christmas celebrations and neighborhood outings. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and classmates to create fond memories. She was also a fan of all her grandchildren’s sporting events. Diane was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, D. Brooks Cross; brothers, Scott, Richard and Jack Hamilton and sister, Nancy Hamilton Bailey. She is survived by two children, Michelle Cross Garske and her husband, Peder of Severna Park, MD and Brendan Cross and his wife, Tracy Figliozzi of Huntingtown, MD. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Andrew and Jonathan Garske and Liam and Kennedy Cross. Friends and family are invited to Diane’s Life Celebration from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 23 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD.
