B

orn Margaret Ruth Zimmerman, November 27 1925, Leechburg, PA. She graduated from Leechburg High School 1943, attended New Kensington Commercial College which led to a job with Aluminum Research Laboratories in New Kensington for one and one-half years. She then worked in Allegheny Ludlum Steel Leechburg Employment Office for six years. She also attended Radio and TV school in Kansas City, MO and then worked for TWA for two years. Margaret retired from Woodward and Lothrop in Annapolis MD after working there for 20 years. She married Earl Sanders Martin in 1954, and lived in Arlington, VA, Springfield VA, Bowie MD, Davidsonville (40 years), Denton, Edgewater, and Annapolis MD. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Earl S. Martin, her brother, John Zimmerman, and her sisters Mary Pfeifer, Helen Beecher, Martha Quayle, and Dorothy Bush. Her children are Jeffrey Alan Martin of Lakewood CO, Terry Lee Martin (Mary-Angela) of Cambridge MD, Debbie Martin Irby of Dothan AL, and Sandy (David) Hemphill of Edgewater, MD. She has 9 grandchildren: Jonathan, Max, Sam, Julia, Luke, Matthew Sanders, Emily, Matthew, and Timothy. She has one great grandchild, Shire. Margaret was the daughter of John and Hazel Zimmerman. She was a member of the Lutheran Church all her life, and loved to sing in many types of church choirs and choral groups, singing many solos. She volunteered in many organizations, serving as President of Lutheran Church Women’s groups in St. Marks, Springfield VA, and Grace Lutheran Church, Bowie, MD. She was a BSA Cub scout Den Mother for Pack 1009, Bowie, MD. She also volunteered at the Lutheran Mission in Annapolis and the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Bowie. Margaret’s interests included word search puzzles, painting many types of crafts made by Earl, selling at local craft fairs, quilting, reading, singing, and reading the Bible Story.
