argaret (Peg) Mulhern, 87, of the Bay Ridge community of Annapolis, MD and Lewes, DE, died peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her many family members in the final week, as she continued to be a model of her Christian faith to all. She was born on May 9, 1924 in Kingston, PA, the daughter of the late James P. and Mary (Kane) McEnrue. A product of Catholic education all her life, she attended College Misericordia in Dallas, PA and transferred briefly to the College of Notre Dame of Maryland during World War II, when she worked for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore. She graduated from Misericordia with a degree in Education and a minor in Vocal Performance. Following the war, she married Edward J. Mulhern, of Forty Fort, PA, on June 13, 1946 at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in Kingston, PA. Peg was the model of a mother to the Baby Boom generation. She bore and raised 10 children, with births spanning the years 1947-1961. She and Ed moved with their first five children to Rockville, MD in 1954. Peg and Ed were long-time active parishioners at St. Mary's Church in Rockville where she taught second grade in the Religious Education program, preparing children for First Communion and First Reconciliation, for close to 20 years. Peg also taught second grade at Gaithersburg Elementary School until her retirement in 1981. She moved to Annapolis in 2003 and has been a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Annapolis. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James and Martin, two sisters Nancy O'Dea and Sister Regis Mary, Religious Sister of Mercy. She is survived by her husband of 65 years and her 10 children: Mary Margaret (David) McElheny of New Market, MD; James (Jane) of Wheaton, MD; Edward (Rebecca) of Frederick, MD; Martin (Pam) of Jefferson, MD; Joseph (Lucy) of Annapolis, MD; Thomas (Katie) of Darnestown, MD; Patrick (Karen) of Nokesville, VA; John (Kim) of Ijamsville, MD; Michael (Alison) of Annapolis, MD; and Kathleen (Michael) Randolph of Annapolis, MD. She was the grandmother, and often spoiler, of 31 grandchildren and 13 (and counting) great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Sunday, August 21 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis on Monday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Annapolis.
