argaret Bissey Munro, 92, a 67-year resident of Anne Arundel County, died November 16, 2014 in Easton, MD. Born on February 14, 1922, in Enid, OK, to the late Reverend and Mrs. A.B. Bissey, Margaret attended a small college in Texas (now part of Texas A&M University). In 1941, she married Robert E. Munro and devoted herself to being a wife and mother to their four children. After her children were grown, Margaret embarked on a 25-year career as a science librarian for the Environmental Protection Agency.
Margaret was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Shady Side. She served as a past PTA President and as a docent at the Salem Avery Museum and the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. Margaret was multi-talented, and gave of her time and energy whenever and wherever needed. She loved boating and fishing. She also enjoyed traveling and visited 49 states and 12 countries. However, her passion and top priority was always her family.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert, who died in 2006; a grandson, Robert E. Munro, USCG; and a son-in-law, Gary Gubbings. She is survived by her son, Robert A. Munro (and daughter-in-law, Charlene Munro) of the Gulf Coast, MS; three daughters, Ann Wood (and son-in-law, Peter Wood) of Annapolis, MD; Roxie Munro (and son-in-law, Bo Zaunders) of New York City, NY; and Suzanne Gubbings of East New Market, MD; four grandchildren, Andrew and Aaron Wood and Aaron, Michael, and Amanda Munro; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday, November 24 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Interment will be private.
