argaret Mary Thurber, of Edgewater, MD, died at her home on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, following a six month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 50.
Born January 16, 1967, in New Orleans, LA, she received a bachelor of arts degree in International Studies and a master of arts degree in International Relations from Towson University. Margaret served in the United States Navy as a Naval Intelligence Analyst. She worked for Anne Arundel County Public Schools as a substitute teacher. Margaret was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Capital Speakers Club, Annapolis Yacht Club, Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and was a children's book author.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert T. Thurber and Mary Anne Fowler Thurber
Margaret is survived by her devoted husband, James C. Blakeney; two beloved children, James T. and Benjamin G. Blakeney; six brothers, Slaten Finger, William Thurber, John Thurber, Wayne Finger, Kent Finger and Stephen Thurber; two sisters, Lori Snyder and Anne Marie Thurber; and her stepmother, Yvonne Girodo Thurber.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD on Saturday, October 14 at 1:00 p.m. Entombment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
