arguerite Teresa Malkie died on June 6 of thyroid cancer at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.
Born November 14, 1931 in Washington, DC. The daughter of Daniel and Margaret Dougherty, who had recently emigrated from Donegal County, Ireland. After graduating from Notre Dame Academy, she worked for the Central Intelligence Agency until she met and married Donald Joseph Malkie in 1952. They moved to Edgewater in 1956. She was a self-employed Title Searcher for a number of years in Annapolis. She was an avid bridge player for over 40 years and greatly enjoyed China painting at the South Anne Arundel County Senior Center. She was loved by all that knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Daniel and Matthew Dougherty; and a sister, Mary McGovern.
Marguerite is survived by her loving husband, Donald; one son, Timothy and his wife, Donna; three grandsons, Matthew and his wife, Mindy, Andrew and his wife, Melinda and Thomas and his wife, Rebecca; and three great-grandchildren, Jordon, Isabella and Jack.
Friends may call at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater on Monday, June 10 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 101 Owensville Road, West River on Tuesday, June 11 at 11:30am. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
