Maria Alfonso - Obituary

aria Lucia Alfonso, 46, of Fort Washington, MD, was granted her angel wings January 31, 2015. "Lucy," daughter of Ernesto and Julia Alfonso, passed away after a five year battle with breast cancer at Southern Maryland Hospital. She is survived by her husband Bernardo, two daughters Gercielyn and Bernadette, son Mark Anthony, and grandson Dominic Isaiah. She is also survived by one sister and six brothers. Lucy most recently worked as a staff accountant for American Armed Forces Mutual Aid Association (AAFMA). She was a woman of many talents including running her own business for many years, sewing, and cooking - founding "Philippine Islands Restaurant" in Jersey City in 1997. Lucy loved to travel, be outdoors (fishing and camping) and spending time with her family. Family and friends are invited to Lucy's Life Celebration on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at The George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church-Piscataway, 13401 Piscataway Rd., Clinton, MD.
