Marie Elaine Higgs - Obituary

arie Elaine Colarusso Higgs, age 60, a resident of Edgewater, MD since 2002 and formerly of Oxon Hill, MD, died on December 15, 2014. Born on February 7, 1954 to the late Janet and Stanley Colarusso, Sr., Marie was a 1972 graduate of Potomac High School in Oxon Hill and worked in various positions with the U.S. House of Representatives for 40 years. She began her career in the office of Congressman Steve Neal followed by several positions with the Clerk of the House. Marie LOVED helping others, this is what she was great at!!! She was the beloved mother of Erica Katherine (Kyle) Bateman of Cincinnati, OH; sister of Stanley John Colarusso, Jr., Sharon Joyce Flynn and the late Nancy Colarusso Dade; aunt of Stanley John, III, Heather and Jessica Colarusso, Stacey Blevins, David Flynn, Melanie Dade, Nicole Andrews and Stephanie Bates; great aunt of Eric, Dylan, Jonathan, Sophie, Tyler, Natalie, Morgan, Christophe, Jaden and Giana. Friends are invited to Marie’s Life Celebration on Sunday, December 21 from 1:00 to 3:00pm with her memorial service beginning at 3:00pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD.
