Marie Nelson - Obituary

arie Theresa Nelson “Memaw”, age 83, a ten year resident of Edgewater and previously of Manassas, VA died on Sunday, September 29 at South River Health and Rehabilitation Center in Edgewater of natural causes. Born on February 28, 1930 in Washington, D.C. to the late James and Mary Mattimore, Marie graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy and worked as an executive secretary with I.B.M. from 1975 until 1991. In addition to pedicures, manicures and getting her hair done, Marie also enjoyed reading, watching Notre Dame Football, riding horses, spending time with her family and playing with her grandchilren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Leslie T. Hill, Sr. and Kenny Nelson. Marie is survived by a daughter, Denise T. (Robert) Sullivan of Edgewater; a son, Leslie T. (Patricia) Hill, Jr. of Gainesville, VA; two sisters, Florence Wesminiti of Rochester, NH and Patricia White of Springfield, MO and three grandchildren, Robbie T. Sullivan, Jr. of Edgewater, Justin Thomas Hill of Colorado Springs, CO and Vanessa Lynn Palau of Centreville, VA. Friends are invited to Marie’s Life Celebration from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 3 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater where her funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday, October 4. Interment will be at Lakemont Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Davidsonville.
