arilyn Eugenia (Nagel) Foreman was born on December 10, 1940 in New Cambria, MO to the late Helen and John Nagel. She graduated from Mount St. Scholastic Academy for girls in 1958. Marilyn was married to and divorced from Robert Foreman. They had two children Mark and Andrea. Through out her early-married life Marilyn was a devoted military wife and mother. She volunteered for the family support group and headed the Campus Organization for Handicapped Children. When the military took the family out to Maryland she began a career outside the home. Marilyn worked in the defense-contracting field on the logistics of fire control systems for various missiles and other weapon systems. She also was in on the ground-breaking work for Sonar Radar in nuclear submarines. We can’t say much else, as her security clearance was SHHHHH, very top secret. Should used to say “Not bad for a high school graduate”. Even though her career gave her a sense of pride, her true passion and love was dogs. When she retired she was able to have her dream job. Marilyn worked at Pocket Pooch Hotel, a kennel for small dogs. She would often have a puppy on her lap and one on her desk. This job helped her cope with the pain of cancer treatments by giving her joy and focus. When she was not working, Marilyn had hobbies that gave her enjoyment too. She loved to read books. James Patterson, Patricia Cromwell, and Tom Clancy were some of her favorite authors. Watching old black and white movies was often a favorite way to spend time on a Saturdays. Marilyn enjoyed gardening as well. Flowers were always in bloom on the lawn. When she became a grandmother her time was often filled with trying to spoil her grandkids. Marilyn fought stage four-colon cancer for 3 years. She was strong and positive while enduring the debilitating effects of chemotherapy and radiation. It really was not until last August that her body began to weaken. On April 25, 2013 at 7:24am she passed peacefully in her sleep while listening to spiritual music. Gratefully Marilyn realized that God’s love is forever and eternal life is promised to those who believe. She leaves behind many friends and a son and daughter in addition to two grandchildren. Marilyn would want the people who knew her to keep her in prayer and remember her with fond memories. On Thursday, April 25, 2013; the beloved mother of Mark A. Foreman and Andrea L. (Mark) Leonard; grandmother of Sean and Amanda Leonard peacefully passed away. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Marilyn's Life Celebration on Saturday, May 4 from 1pm until time of the memorial service at 2pm at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD. Interment Washington National Cemetery, Suitland, MD.
