Marion Mae Ann Maxwell - Obituary

M

arion Ann Maxwell, age 85 of Fort Washington, Maryland, died in her home on October 14, 2023. She is survived by her son Steven (Lynn), Margaret, Bill (Angela) and granddaughters Amanda and Elizabeth. Born on December 17, 1937 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of William and Blanche Cannon. Baptized Catholic at birth, her faith was very important to her. She attended Catholic school, married in the Church, raised her children Catholic, attended Mass every week (until she was unable), she volunteered at the Church and was a member of the Ladies Sodality at St. Mary’s Piscataway. As a stay-at-home mother, Marion was an artist and enjoyed painting in oil and acrylics on canvas, wood and metal. She loved crafts of almost any type and created beautiful decorative items, especially for Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She knew where every craft store was in the area and visited them often. Marion especially enjoyed teaching others how to create their own special designs and was always excited for a crafting event with the Sodality. In addition to her paint brush and glue gun, she was also very handy with a screwdriver, hammer and saw! Marion was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard, sister Peggy, brother Bill, and grandson Gabriel. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, October 21st from 10-11 AM at St. Marys of Piscataway Catholic Church: 13401 Piscataway Rd, Clinton, MD 20735, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marion Maxwell’s honor to: St. Mary’s Church of Piscataway: 13401 Piscataway Road Clinton, MD 20735 OR Puppy Rescue Mission by clicking the following link: Puppy Rescue Mission
