M

arjorie Evangeline "Margie" Hicks Loftus, a longtime resident of Edgewater, Weems Creek and most recently of Heritage Harbour, died peacefully March 18 of natural causes at her home. Margie was born July 31, 1921, in Albany, N.Y., to the late John R. and Evangeline Cooper Gramm. The family moved to Chevy Chase and Margie attended Woodrow Wilson High School. Margie was a graduate of the Washington School of Design and was an interior decorator for Sears Roebuck in Annapolis for more than twenty years. She volunteered at All Hallows Episcopal Church in Davidsonville and at the Anne Arundel General Hospital in Annapolis. Margie enjoyed shopping for antiques, decorating her home, collecting nutcrackers, cooking and gardening. She was predeceased by her first husband, Winfield A. Hicks. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, George H. Loftus; three daughters, Susan E. Hicks and Nancy L. Ward, both of Edgewater, and Maryann F. Loftus of Eastport; her twin sister, Dorothy J. Pope of Cheshire, Conn.; one niece; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to Margie's Life Celebration at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 23 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment is private.
