OL Mark K. Davis, Psy.D., ABPP. February 26, 1958 - November 17, 2011 Servant of God, Husband, Father, Teacher, Leader, Friend II Timothy 6: 7, 8 COL Mark K. Davis, Psy.D., ABPP, age 53, died Thursday November 17, 2011 at home after a two year battle with brain cancer. An 8-year resident of Mayo, MD, COL Davis was born February 26, 1958 in Las Cruces, NM. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Youth Ministry from Vanguard University; Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Biola University in 1982; Psy.D. in Psychology from Biola University in 1987; and his Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from National Defense University in 2004. COL Davis was a Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology in Clinical Health Psychology and a licensed Clinical Psychologist. Most recently he served as Professor of Behavioral Science in the Department of Strategic Leadership, the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF), National Defense University. As an Army Psychologist, he held a number of positions to include developing and directing the Tripler Army Medical Center Health Psychology Fellowship Program, developed behavioral health and health promotion programs at the U.S. Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine, and prior to arriving at ICAF he was the Chief of Outpatient Behavioral Health Services at Fort Gordon, GA; and the National Coordinator for all of the U.S. Army Clinical Psychology Residency Programs. COL Davis was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He received the Defense Superior Service medal and the Meritorious Service medal. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, hiking, kayaking, music and serving in the church. He was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Stearns Davis, wife of 28 years; two sons, Kevin Paul Davis and Daniel Stearns Davis, both of Mayo, MD; his parents, Kenneth Earl and Gloria Parker Davis, of Killeen, TX; two brothers, Rodney Joe Davis of Thousand Oaks, CA and Kendall Earl Davis of Houston, TX; one sister, Ginger Lee Davis of Killeen, TX. Friends may call on Monday, November 28 from 6 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD and on Tuesday, November 29 from 11am until time of memorial service at 1pm. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
