t is with great sorrow that Phillips Foods and Seafood Restaurants announces the death of our company president, Mark W. Sneed. Mr. Sneed passed away the morning of July 16, 2007, at the age of 50, from a sudden heart attack at his home.
A graduate of the University of Kentucky, Mr. Sneed was a thirty year veteran of the restaurant industry. He started his career at Phillips more than 20 years ago as Director of Training for Phillips Seafood Restaurants. After acting as general manager for Phillips Seafood in Washington D.C., he became Director of Operations for all Phillips restaurants.
In 1996, he joined the helm of Phillips Foods, Inc. as its president. Mr. Sneed led the explosive growth of the company over the last 10 years.
He was a member and past president of the Washington-Baltimore Chapter of the Young Presidents` Organization and an active member of the community.
Mr. Sneed is survived by his wife Candace, daughters Savannah and Bailey and one son Davis Sneed. He is also survived by his mother Betty Brooks Sneed, one brother Eric Sneed and two sisters Mary Patterson and Debbie Hays. Relatives and friends are invited to Mark's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037 on Thursday and Friday, July 19th & 20th, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 10:30 am at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
