Marlee Heath McIntire (Lee), 79, of Cape Saint Claire went to her savior’s arms on Saturday January 14, 2017 after a long illness. Lee was born on February 15, 1937 to George O and Norma R Haverty in Washington DC. She lived with her grandparents, parents and extended family in a 3 bedroom home. She was very excited when, she moved to Avondale at the age of 10, to have her own room. At the age of 3 she found a passion for dancing. As a child she danced on two local TV shows. She danced several times before presidents of the U.S. She later went on to dance for the Washington Ballet and the USO, where she traveled the world dancing and performing for the troops. She then opened her own dance studio. As a young woman she modeled for Capa Shell modeling agency in DC. She graduated from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville in 1954 at the age of 17. She went on to get an AA degree at business school. Lee worked at C & P telephone from the age of 17 until she retired at the age of 55. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was the President of the Colonial Council. Served as chairman of the talking animals program, State environmental chairman and the state vial for life chairman. She received the Pioneers lifetime achievement award. Lee volunteered as camp counselor for Camp Basic teaching underprivileged children to read and write. Using her experience she became a volunteer with MDA. She was a camp counselor and worked many MDA Telethons and took adults on many bus trips. Lee believed that friends and family where her biggest blessing. She leaves three children, George McIntire (Kathy) of Riva, Nora Keenan (Duane) of Annapolis and John McIntire (Kay) of Riva, three grandchildren Samantha McIntire, John McIntire and George Wechesser, and two great-grandchildren. She maintained friendships for a lifetime still having 2 friends from when she a 10 year old. She met her best friend Maxine bowling with her parents. Maxine was by her side till the end. She had many friends. Lee bowled up to the point that her health would no longer let her. She loved to play hand and foot with her girlfriends on a regular basis. She loved to play dominoes, cards and scrabble. She enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed watching the ocean. Her greatest passion was helping others. Lee grew up in the Southern Baptist Church, later became Lutheran. She then joined Edgewater Baptist Church when her children were young. Later in life when she moved in with her daughter Nora, she attended Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Davidsonville. Throughout her life she tried to live God’s example of giving back and helping others. The family welcomes friends and relatives to a celebration of life on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 2:00 o’clock at Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Davidsonville. In lieu of flowers, donations to Grace EP or Fido’s of Freedom of Laurel are suggested.
