artha Sue Burnett, of Annapolis, passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 13. She celebrated her 80th birthday in August. She was an active member of her retirement community, and a proud lifelong democrat. During her wonderful life, nothing meant more to her than family and friends.
Mrs. Burnett was born in Murray County, Georgia on August 2, 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Howard Burnett. They were residents of Deale for 18 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Vince and Alma Wilbanks; brother, George Wilbanks; sisters, Mozelle Barker, Kathryn Hensley, Genevelyn Clark, Shirley Rogers, and Loraetta Wilbanks. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Bruce Hesselbacher of Finksburg, MD, sons and daughters-in-law, Alex and Vicki Burnett of Deale MD and David and Lynn Burnett of Charlotte, NC, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sister and brother-in-law, Jessie Lee and Grady Burger, nephew and wife, Jerry and Lucille Barker; and other family members, Bill Clark, Jack and Geneva Ledford, Harold and Barbara Jo Tankersley, and Lorene Springfield, all of Georgia.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 16 at 11:00 AM at Holly Creek Baptist Church in Chatsworth, GA. A life celebration will be held Saturday, November 23 from 2 to 4 PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Burial will be private. The family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House (see link in the left column) or a charity of your choosing.
