Martin "Marty" Joseph Cronin - Obituary

artin “Marty” J. Cronin passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026. Marty was born in New York in 1938 to the late Delores and Edwin Cronin. Moving to and growing up in Chevy Chase, Maryland, he graduated from the University of Maryland and ultimately settled in Edgewater. Marty was an accomplished realtor and a dear friend to all who knew him. He had a zest for life and was selfless in his support of family and friends. In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his son, Martin J. Cronin, Jr., his brother, Ed Cronin. He is survived by his loving partner of over 41 years, Carol Granahan; his beloved daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Brian Newhouse; his two grandsons, Benjamin and Evan Newhouse; Carol’s daughter Marcie Granahan-White (late husband Peter White) and her son Denny Granahan and wife Jennifer; Carol’s grandchildren, Haley, Jada, Abygail and Chloe, as well as his large extended family in Philadelphia, PA.
