M

arvin William Redmond of Oxon Hill, Maryland, died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Washington, DC. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 36 years, Margaret Redmond. Marvin was born December 15, 1936, in Washington DC; he was the son of the late John T. Redmond and Isabelle Hardesty Wade. Marvin grew up and spent most of his life in Washington, DC and Southern Maryland. In 1989 Marvin was named Washingtonian of the Year by The Washingtonian Magazine for his work helping those with alcohol problems as a volunteer probation officer.During the remainder of his life Marvin continued helping people recover from addictions through the courts and other organizations. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sisters Thelma Sellers of Damascus, MD and Nancy Lane of Harwood, MD.He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.Marvin was preceded in death by a brother John T. Redmond, Jr. and sisters Mary Redmond Nash, Jeannie Redmond Lane, and Linda Wade Wise. Family and friends are invited to Marvin's Life Celebration on Wednesday, October 24 from 10 A.M. until service time at 11 A.M. at George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD. Interment will be at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery.
