ary Elizabeth Marion “Betty” passed away peacefully at Brightview, South River, Edgewater, MD on Nov. 29 at the age of 99. Her son, Frank and daughter in law, Jo Ann were by her side. Betty was born in Olyphant, PA in 1924. She was the eldest daughter of the late James and Florence Reap. Her brother, James and sister, Anita preceded her in death. She is now in the embrace of her husband, Paul, who passed away in 2000. Betty grew up in Archbald, PA. Gifted with a beautiful voice, she sang and played the piano well into her adult years and loved to entertain. Her summers were spent at Newton Lake, PA where she enjoyed swimming, diving and entertaining. After high school she entered secretarial school. Betty married Paul Marion soon after he returned from the war in 1946. They moved to Washington, DC where Betty worked for the Bureau of Mines. They later settled in Rockville, MD to raise a family. There she continued her work as an Executive Assistant in the field of education for public schools and for Montgomery College. Betty was very active in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rockville, MD, St. Michael the Archangel, Clearwater, FL, and St. Luke's Catholic Church, Ocean City, MD. After retiring in the early 70's, Betty and Paul moved to Clearwater, FL but would return every summer to their condo in Ocean City, MD. Betty loved the beach and was very active in many social activities at Gull Way Villa Condos. There she taught water aerobics well into her 80's. She continued her love of entertaining family and their many friends. She was also a "Queen" in the Red Hats Society of both Florida and Maryland. Betty is survived by her only son, Frank and his wife Jo Ann as well as many cherished nephews, nieces and cousins located up and down the East Coast. Mass of the Resurrection will be offered on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 11 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake (90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122 or online here).
