Mary "Luckie" Anne Fleri - Obituary

M

ary Anne “Luckie” Fleri of Upper Marlboro, MD, a beloved aunt and friend, peacefully entered into heaven on July 16, 2024. She was born on May 13, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA to the late James and Esther Kennedy. Not long after her entrance into the world, her father was offered a well-sought after job in Washington DC, which he attributed in part to the birth of his new daughter. It was then that Mary Anne received the name that she was known by for the rest of her life, “Luckie”. She attended Congress Heights Elementary School, Kramer Middle School and Anacostia High. After graduating from high school, Luckie went to work for Weaver Brothers Insurance in Chevy Chase, MD as a secretary and eventually worked her way up to being the assistant to the President. She worked at Weaver Brothers for 51 years. Luckie enjoyed spending time at the beach, loved her kitties-especially her “son”, Banjo and she loved spending time with her friends and, of course, her loving family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Gabriel Fleri; her sister, Gail Wiener and her brother-in-law, Robert Wiener. Luckie is survived by her nieces, Lisa (Rob) Redden and Nicole (Chris) Cobb; her nephew, Mike (Laura) Wiener; her great nieces and nephews, Robby (Sara) Redden, Rachel (Justin) Nelson, Peyton and Brady Jackson, Claire and Reese Redden and Blake Nelson. She will always be loved and missed by us all. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Luckie's life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD on Thursday, July 25 from 11 am until her funeral service begins at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Rd, Clinton, MD. Condolences may be made by using the Memories link on this page.
