ary Patricia "Pat" Anderson, age 89, a 33-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Liverpool, NY, died on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center of natural causes. Born on March 14, 1922 in Walton, NY to the late James F. and Jesse Reynolds Ryan Evans, Pat earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1943 and a Masters degree in 1956, both from Syracuse University where she was a member of the Chi Omega Fraternity. Pat worked for General Electric in Syracuse and at a dude ranch in New Mexico before becoming an elementary school teacher. She taught for the North Syracuse School System from 1954 to 1965 at Pitcher Hill School and Smith Road School. Pat was also the score keeper for the local little league baseball team. In 1965, Pat married Arthur Francis Anderson and they lived in Liverpool, NY until 1978 when they relocated to Edgewater, MD. Pat was a volunteer at the London Town Publik House and Gardens assembly where she served as president, vice president and co-chair of the gift shop. She also worked closely with the education committee, teaching children the ways of colonial life. Pat also chaired many committees, including the Daffodil Show. Since 1989, Pat has volunteered at the Anne Arundel County Public Library Annapolis Branch, where she repaired books. Pat was a dedicated member of the Gingerville Garden Club, was an avid reader and was a longstanding participant of a book club that meets at the Edgewater Library. Pat's interest in rowing led her to start two rowing clubs in the Annapolis area. She served as Judge-Arbitre for the United States Rowing Association. Her other interests included basketry, wood carving, oil painting, sewing and knitting. She was also an avid golfer, bowler, tennis player, beachcomber and could cast a dry fly. Despite starting life as a die-hard Yankees fan, Pat did become an avid Orioles fan. She kept armchair scores of the games and did not always agree with the officials. Pat was also a cherished travel companion. People knew her around town by the hat she wore and over time, she amassed quite a collection. In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by a brother, James F. Evans, II of Cazenovia, NY. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, and by two nephews, James F. Evans, III of Cazenovia, NY and Bradshaw A. Evans, Sr. of Budd Lake, NJ; and a niece, Margaret E. Lane of Cazenovia, NY. Friends are invited to Pat’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater on Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 2 to 4PM. Interment private.
