ary Genevieve Barnard “Gen†age 87 a 17-year resident of the Heritage Harbour in Annapolis, MD and previously of Brentwood, Maryland, died at her residence on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. Mary was born in Washington, D.C. on November 14, 1921 to the late Milton and Madeline Donohue Hubbard. She graduated from St. Patrick's Academy in Washington, D.C. and was currently a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis. Gen enjoyed bowling, bingo, playing cards with her friends and spending time with her family. She was particularly grateful for the 69 years she and her loving and adoring husband, Richard A. Barnard, Sr. had together, they were married on November 6, 1940. Besides her husband she is survived by three sons: Richard A. Barnard, Jr. of Annapolis, MD., Thomas M. Barnard of Glenn Dale, MD. and James P. Barnard of Edgewater,Md, six daughters: Barbara A. Gretz of Arnold, MD., Margaret A. Hampton of Brentwood, MD., Susan M. Barnard of Ocean City, MD., Janice M. Boggs of Bowie, MD. Mary J. Kirker of Annapolis, MD. and Kathryn A. Barnard of Grasonville, MD., one sister Barbara Beitzell of Bowie, MD. Grandma Barnard was adored by her 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to Gen's Life Celebration on Sunday, March 8 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM at George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd. Edgewater, Md. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, March 9 at 11:00AM. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Rd.
