ary Ruth Blizzard, “Ruth” age 85, a 28-year resident of Deale, MD and formerly Silver Spring, MD passed away on August 13, 2017. She was born on December 8, 1931, in Baltimore, MD to the late Thurman and Mary Davis, Ruth grew up in Cumberland, MD. Following high school, she graduated from Business Administration School. Ruth was employed by the Federal Government as a secretary for the Foreign Fisheries Department and The Navy Yard and retired from The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in 1987. Ruth was a member of the South County Senior Center, Cancer Society, AARP, and Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included bowling, ceramics, boating, cards, and Bingo. She was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Ruth loved Wheel of Fortune, the news, word searches, and adult coloring books. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, William Allen Blizzard in June 1990; a son, Zachary Allen Blizzard on March 14, 2013; a brother, Bobby Davis; and a brother-in-law, Pete Humbertson. Ruth is survived by a daughter, Debra Lynn Blevins and her husband of 38 years, Steven Paul Blevins, of Deale, MD; three siblings, Homer Davis and his wife, Connie of Oldtown, MD, Shirley Bennett and her husband, Steve of Fredericksburg, VA, and Georgie Humbertson of Oldtown, MD; two grandchildren, Stacy Lynn and Shannon Lee Blevins of Deale, MD; and two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Lynn Lonigan and Colton Steven Penland.
