Mary Cranston - Obituary

ary Alice Cranston, “Nana”, a 23-year resident of West River and previously of Edgewater, MD, died on Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center of natural causes. Born on May 1, 1950 in Washington, DC to the late John F. Thomas and the late Mary V. Dillion, she was a 1969 graduate of Annapolis High School. She worked as a waitress at Abners Crab House, Happy Harbor and Skippers Pier. Mary also worked as a real estate agent and was the owner of Touched by an Angel Day Care in West River, MD. Mary was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and Anne Arundel Medical Center's Look Good…Feel Better cancer support group. She was also a member of Chesapeake Christian Fellowship where she was a director of the day care. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, riding with her husband on his Harley, motorcross and shopping at the GW & Company Boutique. Mary is survived by her husband, Thomas “Buzzy” Cranston, Sr. whom she married in July of 1970; her children: Tabatha Kasey (Danny) Hedler of Shady Side, MD , Thomas Michael (Lisa) Cranston, Jr. of Churchton, MD, Amanda Mae (Jerry) Brunt of Shady Side, MD and the late Joseph William, James, John and Ashlea Marie Cranston; her siblings: John Francis of Annapolis, Patricia Thomas of Richmond, VA, Janel Thomas of Edgewater, MD and the late Joan Thomas. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ally Nicole, Daniel Joseph and Samantha Morgan Hedler, Alexis Renee and Thomas M. Cranston, III and Jerry “Jeb” Edward Brunt, III. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 7pm at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship, 377 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Helen B. Taussig Congenital Heart Center, Johns Hopkins Children's Center, 600 North Wolfe Street, Baltimore, MD 21287.
