ary Margaret Wilburn Deanell (born on February 3, 1936) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the age of 89. Prior to her 5-day hospice stay, and after the death of her beloved husband, Carl L. Deanell, Jr., in 2015, Mary spent the last 10 years of her life residing with her youngest daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Frank Pasqualino, first in Upper Marlboro, MD and then in Ocean Pines, MD. Mary is survived by her 3 children: Micaela Marshall (Steve), Carl W. Deanell (Anita), and Donna Pasqualino (Frank). Mary was a loving grandmother to Jennifer Veit (Tony), Bruce Pasqualino (deceased), Jesse Pasqualino (Hailey), and Alexa Marshall; and an adoring great-grandmother to Grayson, Teghan, Julian, and Blake Pasqualino. She also leaves behind her brother Frank Wilburn (Janice), sister-in-law Joyce Deanell, and niece and nephew Debbie Cooley (Dallas) and Roy Wilburn (Nancy), and many cousins. Mary was born to Norman and Lois Wilburn and grew up in Seat Pleasant, MD, graduating from Suitland High School in 1954. After graduating, she worked for the C&P Telephone Company. During the Korean War she corresponded with her future husband, Carl, and met him after he returned home and worked at C&P as well. After marrying and moving to District Heights in 1955, and then Marlow Heights, Mary and Carl had their first child, Micaela, in 1957, second, Carl (Duke) in 1958, and third, Donna, in 1961. In 1963 the family moved to Clinton, MD where she happily lived and raised her children (and numerous pets!) with her husband Carl, with whom she was married to for nearly 60 years until his death. She loved her family above all else and was an adoring and supportive mother and wife. Mary was always willing to lend a hand as a room mother for her children’s schools, a den mother for the Cub Scouts, a teacher’s aide for many years, a church worker, and as a babysitter for not only her grandchildren, but other children as well. Until the very end of her life, Mary always had a smile and kind words for everyone she would meet. She will be loved and missed forever by all whose lives she touched and made better by just being herself. The funeral celebrating Mary’s life will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Kalas Funeral Home located at 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD. Public viewing from 10:00-11:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am. Interment will follow the funeral service at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd., Brentwood, MD. We, Mary’s children and grandchildren, are forever grateful for the compassionate care provided to Mom by Coastal Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mary’s name to Coastal Hospice at https://www.coastalhospice.org/make-a-donation/
