Mary Douglas - Obituary

ary Elizabeth Douglas, age 74, passed away in Temple Hills, MD on Thursday, July 2nd, 2015, after a long battle with lung cancer. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 56 years, Richard Douglas. She had three sons—Jeff (wife Peggy), Danny (wife Leanne), and Chris (wife Nikki), who gave her eight Grandchildren—Brian, Sean, Kristen, Scottie, Jaylyn, Samantha, Sydney, and Hannah. She was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Skylar, Camden and Logan. She is preceded in death by her mother (Margret Daniel), father (Roy Daniel, Jr), and her son Chris. She had a very special relationship with her sisters and brothers, and was a great mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all that knew her. Mary worked at Catholic War Veterans with her lifelong friend Linda Torreyson for 39 years before retiring in 2012. In her free time, Mary enjoyed her family, playing bingo, card games and visiting the local casinos. For those who don’t wish to send flowers, donations are appreciated. We recommend St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital in D.C., and American Cancer Society (cancer.org) Relatives and friends are invited to Mary’s celebration of life on Monday, July 6th, 2015. A “Memorial Gathering” will take place from 1:00pm-2:00pm. A “Memorial Service” will begin at 2:00pm. The service will be held at George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill MD.
