ary Louise Gossett (née Wilson), 77, a 33-year resident of Edgewater and previously of Bowie, MD, passed away at her home on September 10, 2018. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Barry P. Gossett. Born on August 19, 1941 in Washington, D.C. to the late Joseph and Evelyn Wilson, Mary was a devout Catholic. She graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1960 and worked for the 7-Up Bottling Company and the U.S. Senate Dining Room. Mary loved her home in Edgewater and enjoyed many hours decorating the interior and, along with her friend Teresa, keeping the exterior beautiful with flowers and landscaping. A longtime and passionate supporter of University of Maryland Intercollegiate Athletics, Mary, along with her husband Barry, stood among its most generous donors and dedicated fans, offering their time and resources to supporting student-athletes both on and off the field. Mary is pre-deceased by her brothers, John J. “Jack” Wilson, Joseph “Bip” Wilson and Robert “Bob” Wilson; and survived by brothers, Ronald Wilson (Marilyn) of Annapolis, MD, Michael Wilson (Rosemary) of Sarasota, FL and Paul Wilson (Patricia) of Prince Frederick, MD; sister-in-law, Jenny Wilson and 12 nieces and nephews and 16 grand nieces and nephews. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Ken Gossett (Mary) of Riva, MD and Patrick Gossett (Howard Menaker) of Washington, D.C. Friends are invited to celebrate Mary’s life on Sunday, September 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. and Monday, September 17 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, September 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the University of Maryland Memorial Chapel in College Park, MD. Following the Mass a reception will be held to honor Mary at the Xfinity Center located on campus. Interment is private for family and friends and will be on Wednesday, September 19 at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
