On Sunday, December 18, 2011, Mary Helen Jewell, 84, of Annapolis for 65 years, formerly of Princeton, West Virginia, died at her daughter’s residence after a 2 1/2 month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born November 10, 1927 to the late James and Victoria Craft in Princeton, WV, Mary graduated high school from McComas High School. She was a housewife and bookkeeper for Jewell Brothers Amoco on West St. in Annapolis, a loving mother who enjoyed raising her three children, yard sales, ceramics and canning food.
Mary was married to the late Edward Jewell who passed away in 1981.
She is survived by one son, Edward Jewell, Jr. of Lothian; two daughters, Betty Ann Bryant of Annapolis and Mary Jane Jewell Hardwick Weiser of Annapolis; two brothers, James and Walter Craft; two sisters, Bernice Witt of Bluefield, WV and Virginia Jewell of Annapolis; six grandsons, Edward Jewell, III of Sunderland, Christopher Jewell of Friendship, William A. Bryant, III of Crownsville, Jason E. B. Bryant of Linthicum, David Bryant of Crownsville and John Hardwick of Inwood, WV; one granddaughter, Jennifer Jewell of Friendship; also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to Mary’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Thursday, December 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9PM where a funeral ceremony will be held on Friday December 23rd at 10AM. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are recommended to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis, MD 21401.
