Mary Pender - Obituary

ary Frances Pender, 93, of Ft. Washington, MD passes away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. She was born in Lowell, MA on November 9, 1923 to the late John Joseph and Ann Callinan Tansey. Throughout her life she worked at Lansburg Department Store in the detective department, the FBI and retired from the GSA after 25 years of service. She loved to sing and dance and especially liked all the fun activities that her and her best friend, Elenora Mills, participated in with the Harmony Hallers. The beloved wife of the late John J. Pender, Jr.; mother of Carol (Richard) Porac of Hagerstown, MD and the late John F. Pender; grandmother of Richard J. (Joddi) Porac, Jr. of Laurel, MD, Matthew R. (Kristen) Porac of Skelton, CT and Kristine (Dave) Knight of Frederick, MD; aunt of John Brian Tansey and Elaine Weschler. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren with #6 being scheduled to be born on her birthday. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church (Main Church) of Piscataway, 13401 Piscataway Rd, Clinton, MD. Relatives and friends are invited to Mrs. Pender's Life Celebration on Tuesday, October 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD. Interment on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 2 p.m. Please meet at the Administration Building at Arlington National Cemetery with one's own transportation at 1:15 p.m.
