ary Smith Moreland Phibbons, 93, a 6-year resident of Lothian and previously of West River and Annapolis died on Thursday, February 09, 2012 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Born January 12, 1919 in Annapolis, she worked as a saleswoman at various Annapolis area shoe stores, a caterer with her daughter and was a homemaker. Mary was a longtime member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Lothian and a 25 year member of the West Annapolis Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed participating in group trips with her church friends.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Clarence R. Moreland and Earley Phibbons; a daughter, Mary Lou Bottner; three brothers, John W., Robert and Edward Smith; and two sisters, Thelma Louise Taylor and Ruth Spriggs.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Margaret (Manning) Barksdale of Lothian; a sister, Margaret Sullivan of Harwood; and five grandchildren, Chip Churn of Cape St. Claire, Terri Acito and Judi Bottner, both of Davidsonville, Sandra Marshall of Harwood and Sheryl Brewer of Texas. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to Mary’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater on Friday, February 10 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 11 at 10am at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 122 Bayard Road, Lothian. Interment church cemetery.
