Mary Reavis - Obituary

ary Janeen Reavis, 74, a twelve year resident of Edgewater and previously of Bethesda, died on Thursday, May 15 at Anne Arundel Medical Center due to duodenal cancer. Born on April 30, 1940 in Washington, D.C. to the late John and Mary Louis Saur, Mary attended the University of Maryland. She worked as a Medical Education Coordinator at Suburban Hospital and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater. Mary was an avid gardener who enjoyed living on the water and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond Reavis, Sr. and her granddaughter, Caitlin Avery Lassiter. She is survived by two sons, John Raymond Reavis, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ and James Michael Reavis of Edgewater; a daughter, Melissa Lee Leftrick of Springfield, TN; three brothers, John, Joe and Jay Saur; two sisters, Judy Pointer and Jacquie Crowley and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to Mary's Life Celebration from 6 to 8pm on Tuesday, May 20 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD.
